SENIOR METALLURGICAL TECHNICIAN (10-5-2007)

An excellent opportunity exists within our Metallurgical Laboratory at the Fimiston Plant for a Senior Metallurgical Technician.  We are looking for an experienced Metallurgical Laboratory Technician with previous supervisory experience who is seeking to move into a more senior role.

 

The occupant of the position will be responsible for assisting the Senior Metallurgist (Laboratory Supervisor) in the day‑to‑day management of a small team of day-work and shift Metallurgical Technicians, undertaking a range of laboratory duties.  The major responsibilities of the position include:

 

§         Ensuring that laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with all regulatory, lease and operating license requirements;

§         Assisting in the management of personnel, including performance reviews, recruitment, training and development, and personnel rostering;

§         Assisting in the development and management of detailed procedures for all Laboratory tasks;

§         Ensuring that all laboratory equipment functions reliability;

§         Assisting in the development and implementation of the annual laboratory safety management plan and carrying out specific safety related duties.

 

Applicants should possess a working knowledge of mineral processing plants, together with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a metallurgical technician role. This position requires a person with excellent interpersonal skills, and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.  Possession of, or progress towards, a tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or a related discipline would be highly regarded.

Analyst/ Programmer (3-5-2007)

Applications are invited from suitably experienced persons for the position of Analyst Programmer, based within our Information Systems section. The section is responsible for the maintenance of applications including Oracle Financials, EMPAC ERP and SharePoint. Working within an energetic team of three within a department of eleven, you report directly to the Database Administrator.

 

Key responsibilities of the position include:

 

  • Resolution of issues and proactive upgrade requirements of the applications
  • Issue resolution with customers
  • Proactive management of the integrity and performance of the applications
  • Negotiation with external vendors for upgrades and problem resolution
  • Strong team dynamics providing assistance with future development of the team

 

Successful candidates should have:

 

  • Bachelor Degree in computing, engineering or related disciplines or equivalent experience
  • Experience in complex systems
  • Initiative to identify and action improvements in business process and functions
  • Experience in: Oracle Applications, HTML, ASP, SQL and PL/SQL
  • Coordination and influencing skills
  • Strong analytical ability with a capability to pitch technical information to staff multiple levels within the organisation (including non technical audiences)
  • Ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of complex business problems/requirements
  • Good presentation & communication skills
  • Understand the concepts of architecture, business modelling and its benefits
  • Knowledge of ITIL and service desk task scheduling

Your duties will be many and varied but will include supporting the Community Relations Manager, dealing with the public, organising functions, raising Empac requisitions, and coordinating training sessions.
