Today, Kalgoorlie-Boulder is a different and better place because of the way KCGM has approached it's mining operations. The landscape has improved. There is more vegetation surrounding the city. It is also safer, because the old mine shafts and active mining areas closer to the city have been fenced off. The air is cleaner and the mine and process plants are quieter.

In a harsh environment, KCGM is building a long-term answer to the environmental problems of mining near the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the famous Golden Mile. KCGM's work proves that mines, people and the environment can co-exist.

It is an example of a modern gold mining operation working hard to ensure current practices do more than just maintain the status quo.
